What are my options for lenses?
There are many eyeglass lens options available. Your eye care provider will take your lifestyle and vision correction needs into consideration when helping you select the right lenses for your eyes.
- Transition lenses – These lenses are made of dynamic materials that automatically adjust to the level of surrounding UV light from the sun. They darken to provide sun protection and help block UV rays when exposed to the sun and clear up when you are indoors.
- UV coated lenses – UV coating can be applied to most eyeglasses. UV coated lenses look like any other lens – the coating is transparent while still providing protection from the sun.
- Tinted lenses – Do you like color? You can add a tint to provide an aesthetic look to your glasses.
- Scratch-resistant coating – A transparent coating that helps protect lenses from those annoying scratches. Scratch resistant coating is recommended for all glasses and is especially useful for children’s eyeglasses.
- Plastic lenses – Plastic lenses make the entire eyeglasses weigh significantly less than glass lens eyeglasses. If you are a person who dislikes feeling the weight of eyeglasses on your nose, this lightweight alternative might be right for you.
- Thinner lenses – Mid and High Index lenses such as trivex, polycarbonate, 1.67 and 1.74 lenses greatly reduce the thickness of the lenses so that the eyeglass profile is more attractive and lighter in weight. This material is dependent on your customized glasses prescription.
- Anti-glare lenses – Anti-glare lenses are a special material added to lenses to make them less reflective than eyeglasses without this feature. This coating also improves the function of the eyeglasses because less light is lost and the wearer enjoys very clear vision. Your lenses are easier to clean and less static.
